Those who were “knot” confident they could easily tie the right knot for common boating situations filled the clubhouse Wednesday, learning the basics, including stopper knots, cleat hitches, bowlines, clove hitches, reef knots, half hitches, rolling hitches, and a few others. Everyone enjoyed hands-on practice, building their muscle memory and, of course, showing off tips and tricks.
Doug learned knots as a Boy Scout, but 50 years as a sailor helped burn them into his memory. He’s happy to teach others how to get tied into knots. He’s a new club member, and new owner of the Olson 911S Avatar.
